New mechanical integration methods
The TALENT mechanics work package focuses on the mechanical aspects of the IBL project and on all aspects related to the design, prototyping, construction, integration and installation of the IBL detector. Special emphasis will be on research and qualification of very light weight and thermally highly conducting materials. These materials, combined with novel heat-removal methods with CO2 cooling will be qualified, their properties compared to simulations and their impact on the detector understood. The different components used in the IBL construction will also be qualified in a number of irradiation tests at different facilities.
